{"id":6937,"date":"2026-06-01T19:07:03","date_gmt":"2026-06-01T16:07:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amnesty.org.ua\/en\/?p=6937"},"modified":"2026-06-01T19:38:42","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T16:38:42","slug":"amnesty-international-ukraine-is-looking-for-senior-legal-advisor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amnesty.org.ua\/en\/amnesty-international-ukraine-is-looking-for-senior-legal-advisor\/","title":{"rendered":"Amnesty International Ukraine is looking for Senior Legal Advisor"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:#fdff28\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>We are looking for a person who:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Has proven professional or academic experience in conducting research; international experience will be an advantage.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Has a Master\u2019s degree or higher in law; a PhD and\/or foreign legal education will be an advantage.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Has specialised knowledge and, preferably, first-hand experience in the field of human rights in Ukraine.\u202f\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Demonstrates excellent command of English (C1 or higher), is fluent in Ukrainian (B2-C1 level for foreigners);\u00a0i<strong>s able to\u00a0draft texts, such as research reports, official correspondence, and research-based publications.\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Ready to be based in Ukraine. Kyiv is the preferred location. Other options may also be considered, provided there is readiness for regular business travel to Kyiv and other cities across Ukraine.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Has proven experience of writing research materials for a variety of audiences, as well as\u00a0understanding of\u00a0the importance of tailoring materials for various target audiences.<strong>\u00a0Experience\u00a0in\u00a0research\u00a0related\u00a0to\u00a0IHL,\u00a0particularly\u00a0concerning\u00a0prisoners\u00a0of\u00a0war\u00a0or\u00a0veterans,\u00a0will\u00a0be\u00a0considered\u00a0an\u00a0advantage.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Understands the importance and main challenges of human rights\u00a0defence, particularly\u00a0considering\u00a0the socio-cultural Ukrainian context.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Demonstrates the ability\u00a0to communicate in a sensitive manner with different stakeholders and at-risk groups.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Has excellent time-management skills, including prioritising tasks under tight deadlines.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Is ready to deepen knowledge and implement intersectional and anticolonial approaches in research practice.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Shares the values and principles of the Amnesty International movement.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:#fdff28\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Responsibilities and tasks:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To monitor, research, investigate, and analyse human rights-related developments in order to provide timely, accurate, independent, and impartial assessments and expert advice on the human rights situation\u00a0in Ukraine.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To organize, take part in and lead, upon agreement, field research and other missions, leading specifically on information-gathering, fact-finding, analysis, and assessment of human rights issues, including in response to crisis situations.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To represent Amnesty International on the ground and with external stakeholders, including on governmental, inter-governmental and various public forums, as well as to all forms of mass media, civil society organisations, and political, economic, and other actors.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To write and present high-quality reports and other materials for publication and internal use, contribute to and provide expert advice on written and other materials drafted by other departments.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To contribute to the development of strategies and plans for research and campaigns.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To participate in communications between Amnesty International Ukraine and other Amnesty departments.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To contribute to the development and maintenance of an effective information management system.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:#fdff28\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Application requirements:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please&nbsp;send&nbsp;a&nbsp;cover&nbsp;letter<strong>&nbsp;(<\/strong><strong>including your salary expectations)<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;CV&nbsp;to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:info@amnesty.org.ua\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">info@amnesty.org.ua<\/a>&nbsp;with&nbsp;Senior legal advisor&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;subject&nbsp;line.&nbsp;The&nbsp;letter&nbsp;and&nbsp;CV&nbsp;should&nbsp;be&nbsp;in&nbsp;English&nbsp;or&nbsp;Ukrainian.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amnesty International Ukraine reserves the right to change the deadlines, cancel or re-open the competition, or not to hire any candidate if they do not meet the stated requirements.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Application\u00a0deadline:\u202f\u00a0<strong>July\u00a03, 2026.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amnesty International provides equal employment opportunities.
